It started in London

In my mind, the hour of birth of my eponymous fashion label Vivien Sophie® was already in the spring of 2016, when at the age of 21 I had the privilege of completing the semester abroad of my bachelor’s program in the heart of the enchanted London Regent’s Park and the university of the same name. The city enchanted me. Every step was special, every ride on the underground was exciting, every district I chose fascinated in its own way. I felt the urge to discover every corner of this metropolis and even to absorb its atmosphere.

Enjoy with all senses

At the time, I was anything but aware that, looking back, this journey had a lasting impact on me personally. One of my particular passions was visiting the various markets in the city, where fashion trends, antiques and handicrafts were offered in addition to culinary delicacies. Numerous trips to museums such as the National Gallery or visits to theaters and musicals in London’s West End further stimulated my creativity and took it to a new level. But also nocturnal activities such as club visits with international students revealed a new, spontaneous and wild side in me that I had not known from the Taunus idyll of my hometown. As seldom before, I always caught myself with a broad, deeply satisfied smile on my face and a good feeling in my stomach.

My inner fire begins to blaze

Especially places like St. Christopher’s Place, a hidden gem at the back of Oxford Street, or strolling through the run-down but still trendy, stylish streets of the bohemian district of Shoreditch triggered the feeling in me of wanting to create something that my inner emotional world, the full of unique experiences and unfulfilled fantasies, to bring them together unfiltered and authentically and to share them with the world.

The cornerstone of my mission

Shortly before the end of my stay in England, I took the opportunity to take part in a university excursion, which ultimately became the cornerstone of the fulfillment of my dream: A trip to Paris to visit the largest and most renowned fashion and textile fair in the world, the Première Vision. A colorful sea of fabrics and structures awaited me; at the stands I listened to experts from all over the world talk about colours, fabric textures and fashion trends. I observed creative people looking for the right materials to realize their ideas. My fire started to blaze – I wanted to belong! At the same time, however, I knew that the right time had not yet come. My feeling told me that this dream should continue to mature inside me for the time being.

My existential crisis

Almost four years later: The end of my management master’s degree in Frankfurt am Main: A time full of experiences, exciting acquaintances, high performance and even greater psychological pressure. Corona brought the world to a standstill while I was writing my master’s thesis. A seamless transition from studying to working life has become almost impossible due to hiring freezes. All the more time left to think. The question that occupied me the most: Where do I want to go? Who am I? Was it a mistake not to let my intuition, mindset and fire from my time in London guide me? Do I really want to embark on a career in the predetermined and almost inflexible process of an established company?

Just do what I love…

During this uncertain time between completing my studies and starting my career, which was delayed due to the corona virus, a decision matured in me: If I don’t live my dream, which began in London in 2016, then I probably never will. My master’s thesis laid the theoretical and practical foundation for my lifelong dream – my own fashion label. I quickly realized that when you do what you love, fate automatically steers you in the right direction and brings people into your life who want to make a difference in the world with you.

My life motto: Think Big!

From now on I sprayed the spirit of Vivien Sophie® at every step, inhaled my surroundings in all their fullness and lived according to the motto: Think big – your dreams can never be big enough. Thanks to this attitude towards life, I work every day full of motivation to realize my ideas, accept setbacks and when I go to bed in the evening I can hardly wait for the new day when I will have the chance to get a little closer to my vision. Of course it’s not always easy, but as Aristotle once said so aptly: “We can’t change the wind, but we can set the sails differently.”

My little life wisdom...

My best guide is my gut feeling. My first, completely consciously perceived “invitation”, which I was able to accept with a consistently fulfilling, positive gut feeling, was the suggestion of my current business partner to found our company Vivien Sophie®. Since then, I have completely aligned my life with it and, miraculously, things have happened in my life that I would never have dared to dream of.
